GAME CHANGER WITH MOBILE LPR

An example of what your contributions fund. We have excitedly installed a MOBILE LPR (licence plate recognition) camera into one of the vehicles.

As the SRT drive around, or park at critical intersections, the camera reads registration plates and posts them to the LPR cloud. If it finds a match against a suspect/wanted vehicle on the data base it immediately alerts both the SRT member on the tablet in the vehicle, as well as the controllers in the CVIC control room.

While SRT continues to observe/follow the vehicle, the controllers quickly verify details and provide feedback to the SRT member and any other responder on the community radio network. The relevant resources such as SAPS are then advised and the necessary action is taken.

They have already achieved some successes and we are planning and would like to install one in our second vehicle.
